Bansko has two types of road washers. It has a couple of actual road sweepers normally used during the early hours - very noisy, waking up those not still in nightclubs! The other type is a sort of water tanker with a big long hose at the back operated by a smallish man to literally hose the streets with lots of water ( a valuable resource!), moving mud, twigs, litter etc to new locations! Actually, it does make a bit of a difference until the goats and cows get on the move again a few hours later, or the odd horse makes it his business to do his business if you know what I mean!
Anyway, yesterday while watching all this water cascading down the road in front of our office it was a bit like kids outside a chocoloate shop that is closed - we had no water coming out of our taps! Apparently someone was digging and hit a pipe. The man with the hose was certainly rubbing the fact in very well!!!
The 2008 Bansko Jazz Festival ended last Wednesday and by all accounts was the best yet!
The summer weather have been great - hot and sunny - lots of cloudless skies. The resort was pretty quiet during July but August has seen an influx of guests - mostly owners out to take advantage of their apartments and enjoy the fresh air of the mountains.
It is hot, hot, hot and sunny, sunny, sunny in Bansko today! Summer is definitely here!
Both James and I have visited our dentist in Sofia this week. She is simply wonderful - root canal treatment and no pain! Much cheaper than the UK also!
I think we need to offer package holidays for dental treatment in the future!
The large TV screen sponsored by companies including the Kempinski Hotel, Molerite and Carlsberg has once again been erected in the main square so that locals and visitors alike can enjoy all the Euro 2008 football matches, beer at 1.50 leva per pint and tasty BBQ food at very reasonable prices. Lots of thunderstorms in between the hot sunshine have ensured that the large umbrellas and marquees have been well used!
